NFL Week 2 is in sight and there is less certainty in the league than before week 1. Our week 1 predictions were perilously close to sinking below .500 as we headed into Monday Night’s Matchup at 2-2. All it took were a few big upsets and some closer than expected matchups to throw the season’s predictions up in the air. Then the collapse of the Ravens cemented a 2-3 result for the week.
So let’s move forward and update our picks for NFL Week 2 starting with our play for the Thursday night game.
Thursday September 16th
NY Giants @ Washington FC -4, 41.5
Yup, we are on the Washington FC to take down the spiraling Giants. 78% of the public’s money is on Washington, which gives us pause, however, betting on the G-men has not been a successful strategy in many years. Let’s go Red….er, uhm, let’s go Washington!
Sunday September 19th
NE Patriots -5, 42.5 @ NY Jets
Eventually Belichick et al will right this ship in NE. Hopefully that starts now and results in a big win against their divisional rival.
Denver Broncos -6, 44 @ Jax jaguars
Buffalo Bills -3.5, 47.5 @ Miami Dolphins
SF 49ers -3.5, 49.5 @ Philadelphia Eagles
The late game collapse of the 49ers last week against Detroit makes me more confident in the Eagles. I always enjoy getting points on a home team I like.
LA Rams -4.5, 46.5 @ Indianapolis Colts
LV Raiders @ Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5, 48.5
I am counting on the Monday Night hangover to help the Steelers cover the 6.5 points at home.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Chicago Bears -2.5, 46
Houston Texans @ Cleveland Browns -11.5, 48
NO Saints -3.5, 46.5 @ Carolina Panthers
Minnesota Vikings @ Arizona Cardinals -4.5, 50.5
Atlanta Falcons @ TB Buccaneers -12.5, 52.5
Tennessee Titans @ Seattle Seahawks -5.5, 53
Dallas Cowboys @ LA Chargers -2.5, 54.5
KC Chiefs -2.5, 55 @ Baltimore Ravens
Monday September 20th
Detroit Lions @ GB Packers -10.5, 49
While I would love to see the Pack sink to 0-2, the ineptness of Detroit is capable of making even the most dysfunctional team look playoff worthy. Packers are the play.
