All sportsbooks, including Chicago’s hometown BetRivers, publish season long future bets on the regular season win totals for each NFL team. Gamblers can choose to bet whether they think their team will win more (over) or less (under) than that total. The Chicago Bears season win total future bet is currently set at 7.5. This is a wager that caught my attention as we head into the regular season.
Before reading any further, you must note that I am a homer on this. The beloved Chicago Bears have dominated my personal sports history since I was old enough to yell at my TV. Through the lean years and through a couple Super Bowls, the preseason hype has usually outpaced the real season’s results. Rest assured, this season will probably be no different.
The Gambler’s Logic for the Over
We noted that the Chicago Bears win total OVER/UNDER is 7.5 for the 2021 NFL season. I am gonna make a case for the OVER in spite of the wicked 3rd toughest schedule in the league. That means a record of 8-9 or better will be a winner. Anything less is a loser. Here goes….be gentle with me:
- 6 of the toughest games are on the road so I am writing off almost all of those and just hoping for 1 surprise upset against @Rams, @Browns, @GB, @TB, @Steelers or @Seahawks (+1 win)
- Also gonna write off the GB game at home. Of course I hope for the best but, well, hope is all I have. (+0 wins)
- Sweep the Lions, split with Vikings (+3 wins)
- Take care of business at home against Bengals, 49ers, NYG (+3 wins)
- Look for at least 1 win against Cardinals (home), @Raiders, Ravens (home) (+1 wins)
That’s 8 wins
Being a Chicago fan, I will always side with optimism, but I truly think 8 is achievable.
